What NOT to Do After Bankruptcy

Never Become Overwhelmed By Debt Again

At the law firm of Kingcade & Garcia in south Florida, we take our job as legal and financial advisors seriously. We are dedicated to providing clients not only with effective debt relief solutions, but also the tools to successfully move forward with their lives after bankruptcy. Unfortunately, some people who file bankruptcy end up right back in the same place they started prior to filing. At Kingcade & Garcia, our goal is to prepare you for financial success so that you will never be overwhelmed by debt again.

Don't Get Back Into Debt

Our lawyers offer clients the following advice regarding what NOT to do after bankruptcy:

  • Don't get back into debt.
  • Only use credit when you can pay it off at the end of the month. Never carry a balance on a credit card.
  • Imaging yourself writing a check for the item you are purchasing with a credit card.
  • Be realistic when buying large items, such as a house or car. Don't buy property you can't afford.
  • Create a monthly budget and follow it closely.
  • Maintain separate savings accounts for certain items.
  • Always have at least three months salary in savings.

Resist Easy Credit

One of the most important things to remember when starting fresh after bankruptcy is to resist easy credit. The American economy depends on consumption, which is driven by credit. Realize that the reason you can get a car loan quickly is not for your convenience; it is to enable car dealers to sell cars fast.

At Kingcade & Garcia, we remind clients that no matter what form of payment you use upfront, always keep in mind that you will eventually have to pay for what you consume. If you have questions regarding Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy and how to avoid a second bankruptcy, contact our attorneys in Miami at 305-285-9100.
